More on the Notice to Parliament

by Renegadeparent 18. November 2009 19:30

I just wanted to add Elaine G-H's comments here, because they rang true with me. I published the notice because I believe in the words (not least because some of them appear to have been lifted from my annotation which I blogged about here):

I will be signing & sending the declaration of non co-operation to my MP. If someone I totally hate has written it, it makes no difference as I agree with the principles in the document. They brought this fight to me in my home where I was going about my peaceful, lawful business. I will not co-operate with what is concerted attack on my family by government who want to parent of first choice for all children.

I don't think it actually matters if people alter it, unlike the petition. As you can just declare your non co-operation in your own way and it would be saying the same thing....NO!

The principle is.....you are not going to co-operate. Everything else is just window dresssing.

There are some changes I will make before I send the document to David Kidney - but that's kind of the point, isn't it? No-one has told me what I can and can't write; what I should or shouldn't do; when I do or don't send this thing in. It's all down to me and I am answerable to no-one else. And that is something that every home educator understands.

The Notice to Parliament has also been covered by: Tech, Maire, Home Ed Forums, Blogdial, Kelly, Su, Paula, Nineteenthly, Then UK, LFN.

Libertarian and heretic. Parent, partner and entrepreneur. Embracing autonomous learning. Leading not following. Challenging the status quo.

I do agree with being kind, considerate and generous to others.

I don't agree with compulsion, coercion or unnecessary intervention in any aspect of life - that goes for education and childbirth too.

I value autonomy, personal responsibility and informed choice.

I really am all for the freedom - are you?
